Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Africa Tracing & Telematics (ATT) collects through the TRACE'IN web platform and the TRACE'IN mobile applications for iOS and Android, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.
1. Who we are and scope
TRACE'IN is a GPS tracking and fleet management service operated by Africa Tracing & Telematics ("ATT", "we", "us"), a company registered in Côte d'Ivoire.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the TRACE'IN web platform, available at trace-in.net;
- the TRACE'IN mobile applications for iOS and Android;
- the tracking devices and sensors installed by ATT and connected to TRACE'IN;
- our support and customer communications.
By creating or using a TRACE'IN account, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. It forms part of our Terms of Use.
ATT acts in two capacities. For account, billing and support data, ATT decides how the data is used and is the data controller. For vehicle, trip and driver data generated by a customer's fleet, the customer decides who and what is tracked; ATT processes that data on the customer's behalf and on its instructions.
2. Data we collect
We collect only the data needed to provide the TRACE'IN service.
- Account data: name, company, job title, email, phone number, username, encrypted password, language and time zone. Provided by you or your account administrator.
- Vehicle and asset data: registration, make, model, device IMEI, SIM number, maintenance and administrative deadlines. Provided by you and the installed device.
- Location and trip data: GPS position, speed, heading, mileage, routes, stops, idling, geofence entries and exits. Provided by the installed tracking device.
- Driving and sensor data: harsh braking, acceleration and cornering, ignition status, fuel level, engine data, temperature or humidity readings, trailer identification. Provided by the installed device and connected sensors.
- Driver data: driver name, identification tag, assignment to a vehicle, activity reports. Provided by you or your account administrator.
- Video data, where subscribed: images and recordings from dashcams or on-board video recorders. Provided by the installed camera equipment.
- Usage and technical data: login dates and times, IP address, browser or device type, actions performed in the account, alerts configured. Generated by your use of the platform or application.
- Support data: emails, messages and call notes exchanged with our team. Provided by you.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive data such as health, religious or political information. Please do not enter such data in free-text fields.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data for the purposes below and do not sell it or use it for third-party advertising.
On the basis of our contract with you:
- to create and manage your account and authenticate users;
- to provide real-time tracking, trip history, alerts, reports and maintenance follow-up;
- to send service notifications and alerts you have configured, by email, SMS or push notification;
- to install, configure and maintain devices and provide technical support.
On the basis of a legal obligation:
- to invoice the service and keep accounting records;
- to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
On the basis of our legitimate interest:
- to secure the platform, detect misuse and prevent fraud;
- to improve the platform and applications using aggregated or anonymised statistics.
On the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time:
- to send information about ATT products and services.
4. Mobile applications (iOS and Android)
The TRACE'IN mobile application works in the same way as the web platform and is covered by this Privacy Policy in full. It connects to the same account, with the same login details, and displays the same data.
The application offers a selected set of features, chosen to keep navigation simple and fast on a mobile device. Some advanced features, settings and reports are available only on the web platform. The application does not collect more data about your fleet than the web platform does.
The points below are specific to mobile use.
Device permissions
Depending on the features you use, the application may ask for the following permissions:
- Notifications: to deliver the alerts you have configured, such as speeding, geofence entry or exit, and stops. If you refuse, you will not receive push alerts; they remain visible in the application.
- Storage: to save exported reports or files to your device. If you refuse, files cannot be saved to your device.
The application does not request access to your camera or to the location of your mobile device.
Each permission is optional. You can grant or withdraw it at any time in the settings of your device.
Technical data collected by the application
When you use the application, we may collect:
- device model, operating system and version;
- application version and language setting;
- a push notification token, used only to deliver alerts to your device;
- login dates and times and IP address;
- crash and diagnostic logs, used only to fix technical problems.
Push notifications
Push notifications are routed through Apple Push Notification service on iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android. These services receive the notification token and the content of the alert in order to deliver it.
Advertising and tracking
The application contains no third-party advertising. We do not track you across applications or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use your device's advertising identifier.
Data stored on your device
The application stores a session token and your display preferences on your device so that you stay signed in. Signing out or uninstalling the application removes this data from the device.
App stores
The application is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple and Google may collect data about your downloads and your use of their stores under their own privacy policies, which ATT does not control.
Uninstalling the application
Uninstalling the application does not delete your TRACE'IN account or the data of your fleet. To delete your account, see section 8.
5. Customer responsibilities
The customer is responsible for the lawful use of tracking within its own organisation. TRACE'IN does not permit covert tracking.
If you use TRACE'IN to track vehicles or assets used by employees, drivers or other persons, you must:
- inform those persons, before tracking starts, that the vehicle or asset is tracked, what data is collected and why;
- obtain their consent or any authorisation required by the law that applies to you;
- complete any declaration or authorisation formality required by your national data protection authority;
- give access to tracking data only to staff who need it for their work;
- respect the rules on private use of vehicles and on working hours that apply to you.
Drivers and other tracked persons who wish to exercise their rights should first contact the company that operates the vehicle. ATT will assist that company in answering the request.
6. Sharing and international transfers
We share personal data only with the recipients below, and only as far as each needs it.
- Users of your account. Administrators and users authorised by your company see the data of your fleet according to the access rights you set.
- ATT staff. Our technical, support and account teams access data when needed to install, maintain and support the service.
- Service providers. We use providers for platform software and hosting, mobile network connectivity, mapping, email and SMS delivery, and push notifications. They act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality and security obligations.
- Authorities. We disclose data when required by law or by a valid request from a competent authority.
- Business transfer. If ATT is merged, acquired or reorganised, data may be transferred to the successor, under the same protections.
We do not sell personal data.
Some providers host or process data outside Côte d'Ivoire. In that case we take the measures required by applicable law so that the data keeps an adequate level of protection.
7. Retention and security
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes in section 3.
- Account data: for the life of the account.
- Location, trip, driving, sensor and video data: 3 months from collection by default.
- Billing and accounting records: for the period required by accounting and tax law.
- Support exchanges: for the time needed to handle and follow up the request.
- Technical and login logs: for the time needed to secure and maintain the service.
At the end of these periods, data is deleted or anonymised.
We protect data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, individual user accounts with configurable access rights, restricted staff access and regular backups. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential, as set out in the Terms of Use.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the competent authority as required by law.
8. Your rights and account deletion
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- have your data deleted when it is no longer needed or when you withdraw consent;
- object to processing on legitimate grounds, and to marketing messages at any time;
- withdraw a consent you have given, without affecting earlier processing;
- lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Côte d'Ivoire, this is the Autorité de Régulation des Télécommunications/TIC de Côte d'Ivoire (ARTCI).
To exercise these rights, write to support@africa-tnt.net. We may ask for proof of identity and will answer within the period set by applicable law.
Account deletion. You may request deletion of your TRACE'IN account and its data at any time, from the web platform or the mobile application, or by email to support@africa-tnt.net. If your account belongs to a company fleet, the request must come from, or be confirmed by, the account administrator. Data we must keep by law, such as invoices, is retained for the legal period and then deleted.
9. Cookies
The web platform uses only the cookies needed for it to work: keeping you signed in and remembering your language and display preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. The mobile application does not use cookies; it stores equivalent session data on your device, as described in section 4.
10. Children
TRACE'IN is a professional service. It is not intended for persons under the age of majority, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The new version is posted on trace-in.net and in the mobile application, with its date. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the platform. Your continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Côte d'Ivoire, including Law No. 2013-450 of 19 June 2013 on the protection of personal data. Disputes are handled as set out in the Terms of Use.
